Queen Elizabeth Matelasse Bedspread
Description
The Queen Elizabeth Bedspread was first introduced by Bates in 1953, in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. The design was also inspired by an intricate quilt originating from the Elizabethan Era, so the name was fitting in more ways than one.
This vintage-inspired matelassé bedspread was the first of its kind to be woven on a mechanical loom, and it has been in continuous production for over 60 years (second in age only to the our classic Martha Washington’s Choice Bedspread).
This cotton matelassé bedspread commands attention with an elegant center medallion and structured framework surrounded by soft florals. The iconic design has also been known in the past as the "Elizabethan Court."

I recently purchased two bedspreads, one for my grown daughter and one for my wife. I saw the Maine Cabin Masters episode that showed a Bates and it reminded me that when I was young the last thing I had to do before leaving the house was to make my bed and finish it off with a white heavy bedspread. My wife makes quilts and we have always had one of her quilts on our bed and I wanted to surprise her with a Bates. I ordered a Queen Elisabeth and it arrived three days early. The quality of this bedspread is second to none and quite honestly it looks perfect, plus it’s Made In The USA. So here I am, 68 years later and every morning I am still making the bed. I am completely satisfied with these purchases and let me say they are stunning. The quality, the intricacies of the pattern and the weight of the bedspread make it truly unique.
