Description

The Queen Elizabeth Bedspread was first introduced by Bates in 1953, in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. The design was also inspired by an intricate quilt originating from the Elizabethan Era, so the name was fitting in more ways than one.

This vintage-inspired matelassé bedspread was the first of its kind to be woven on a mechanical loom, and it has been in continuous production for over 60 years (second in age only to the our classic Martha Washington’s Choice Bedspread).

This cotton matelassé bedspread commands attention with an elegant center medallion and structured framework surrounded by soft florals. The iconic design has also been known in the past as the "Elizabethan Court."

The bedspread is stunning! The quality, the weight, the beauty of the design and weaving make it an heirloom piece to be enjoyed and eventually, passed down to the next generation. Timeless!

The Bates bedspread is truly timeless! Americana at its best, although it matches perfectly with the Colefax and Fowler (English) wallpaper in our room!
Ample size, foldback is fabulous/ drop is generous,cotton washes like a dream- there are more superlatives, I could go on and on -Service and communication-All Stars.

Great Quality

The tradition of quality products produced by the Bates Mill, has been carried forward by the current producer. I have had this same version of a Bates Bedspread on my various beds for more than 50 years. I am very pleased with the quality of my new bedspread.
