The George Washington’s Choice Blanket is our oldest and most popular blanket design. Available in 6 colors, this heavyweight blanket is as decorative as it is warm. This heirloom-quality blanket is loom woven from American grown and spun cotton, and the design has a similar appearance to popular cable knit blankets.
The George Washington’s Choice is finished with a double needle plain hem on all four sides. Like all of our made in USA blankets, this blanket is woven and stitched at our family-owned mill in the beautiful state of Maine.

I received my new Blanket (twin sage) this week. It is the best blanket I ever owned. The quality, size, texture and color are top notch.
A biophysicist told me synthetic fabrics block the body’s energy pathways. So I bought this 100% cotton Bates blanket to replace a synthetic fleece blanket. Not only is this George Washington Choice beautiful and soft, but I distinctly have more energy upon waking.
This is a beautiful, well made blanket. I live in a warmer climate but winters can be cold with high humidity that chills me to the bone. I wanted a warm but not too hot blanket that I could layer if necessary. I hate heavy comforters. This blanket is big enough to have plenty of drop on all sides of my tall king size bed. Just like hoped for. Though I haven't used it yet, I know I will love it!
Purchase was easy, shipping was faster than I expected even with my local postal service looping it between distribution centers for 3 extra days. I am not disappointed in the quality and service from Bates Mills and will be looking forward to future purchases.
I cannot leave a high enough review. Everything about the blanket is wonderful. The weave, weight, comfort, 100% cotton. My sleep improved dramatically and I own several George Washington weave blankets of various sizes for all my bedroom, lounging and travel. The weave and quality must be experienced in person. The George Washington is legitmately heavyweigtht and feels like a weighted blanket to me, which I love as I am a small person who loves that "feel". Made in USA....just come on. What is not to love. Just buy one, and you will find reasons to buy them for other rooms and give as gifts. I apprecaite the heritage, quality, value and comfort. Thank you Bates Mill!!!
