The Americana Cotton Matelasse Coverlet features a classic pattern of geometric star bursts that is both reminiscent of midcentury design and vintage cottage decor. True to its heritage, the Americana was introduced by Bates in the 1950s.

Also available as a traditional full length bedspread, the Americana Cotton Matelasse Coverlet has a shorter drop on the sides. A coverlet can be the perfect choice for beds that sit closer to the floor, or for someone who is just looking for a slightly more modern touch.

As a midweight coverlet, the Americana is a great choice for a woven cotton coverlet that’ll be comfortable in most seasons and climates.

Great quality

This is the only bedding I buy now, I have been buying for years. You can't beat the quality, absolutely beautiful, but more than that it holds up. I have 3 big tomcats and they are rough on the bedding and it still looks good, not matter how many claws get sunk into it. It washes well and I love it's made in US. Can't go wrong with ordering, well worth the price.

Nostalgia

My grandmother had the "Queen Elizabeth" bedspread on her bed. I became nostalgic & purchased one for my Victorian bed. I love the look so much, my next purchase was the "Americana Coverlet". Bates Mill products are washable & look great! . Plan on vacationing in Maine during Sept. Would love to visit the store.

Bates Bedspreads are the BEST!

In 1948 my mother started a "tourist" home here in Hyde Park, NY, and a Bates' salesman stopped by to see if we needed any bedspreads. I remember my mother purchasing a brown striped one for one guest room and a double bed & single bed green with white raised dots on it, with a white balled fringe around the bottom. We had that for many years and it was enjoyed by many guests visiting our area. My home was built around 1850, and I have lived in the same house since 1940 all my life, and in 1996 after retiring, I opened a "Guest House" again for visitors to Hyde Park, NY. I've met many people from all over the world. As I was one of the lucky kids to have met Eleanor Roosevelt several times, I often have guests interested in Eleanor, or another neighbor Lorena Hickok, one of ER's friends, who are writing books about them. They love hearing my stories and make reservations to stay here. You can find my website on: www.CostellosGuestHouse.com and it will show you photos of our home and guest rooms. I haven't met a Bates' salesman in a long time, but do get your catalog and have seen and ordered your merchandise online! I also ordered a couple king-size bedspreads through the years for my bed. I remembered your name and recently ordered a new white twin bedspread for my canopy guest room. I hope to see you someday when you visit our area. Your bedspreads are known for their quality, and I'm glad to know you are still in business!
