Colonial Rose Cotton Matelasse Bedspread

$ 160.00

The Colonial Rose Bedspread features an all-over floral and palm leaf pattern that carefully balances the organic with the geometric.

This cotton bedspread was originally introduced in the 1950s as a classic matelasse but was later transitioned into production as a flat jacquard quilt called "Brittany" in the 1970s. Flat jacquards, lacking the signature “puff” of a matelasse bedspread, did not take off in popularity and so the pattern was discontinued.

In the early 2000’s, Bates resurrected this vintage bedspread as a lightweight matelasse in an effort to provide an affordable option for those customers seeking the quality of the matelasse bedspread but in a lighter weight fabric.

Beautiful bedspread!

Very well made!

I love my new bedspread just as I have loved the other Bates Mill Store items I have purchased. No need to ever look for bedspreads anyplace else, these are the best.

Better than in picture!

This bedspread is much prettier in person than in the photos. It is lightweight but still high quality. The color is definitely more ecru than ivory. It washes beautifully. I have it over a very lightweight down alternative blanket and it’s perfect for our southern climate.

Just what I wanted

I received my queen Colonial Rose bedspread today and it's perfect. So happy I found a good quality bedspread that suits me. The fit is perfect

Good Value

It is a lightweight bedspread, but mine withstood 5 years of daily bed making until it began to unravel where you tuck under the pillows. I am now buying another white one, so I can continue sleeping on a cloud.
