Just got it in the mail and quick-washed it with a little baking soda and detergent, and it's way softer than it looks.
The aesthetic is adorable and lays by current trends, like linen, really well.

This is truly the best blanket I've ever owned. Heavy weight and beautifully made, I think it will last 20 years or more. There's nothing to snag because the weave is so tight, and the edges are triple stitched so they won't ever come apart. Unlike other blankets I've owned where after one wash, they're barely big enough fabric to tuck all the way around, this blanket is sizable enough to use as a bedspread if I didn't want to tuck it in. Plus, it's great looking. Classic enough to go with traditional bedding/decor, and classic enough to mix well with modern design, too. Best. Blanket. Ever.
I love this blanket. It's delightfully heavy and is so comforting to sleep under. It's warm, but yet I don't overheat as I have with other blankets. It is generously sized - mine was actually a little wider than the stated dimensions, so no fighting for the covers! I can tell that we are sleeping better because the covers aren't all askew in the morning like they used to be when we tossed and turned. Thank you Bates for this quality blanket.
