We are proud to host our local community garden on our grounds, and each month will be sharing an update on the blog on the gardening efforts for the year. This is our second update for the 2017 growing season (June). Enjoy and feel free to send any special requests for us to cover or even questions for the gardeners.

Over the past few weeks, Monmouth gardeners have been working hard to prepare the Community Garden for the upcoming season. Though it's been difficult battling with the damp forecast this spring, everything has been successfully set-up, and the garden is ready for planting!  And just in time, too: we're finally getting some sunny, warm days. Hurray for happy plants!

Several garden members got started last weekend, over the Memorial Day holiday.  We already have lots of cute seedlings to photograph.

Colin, a first year MCG member but long-time gardener, has a couple of handsome bamboo trellises set up for his pole beans.  We can't wait to see them grow!

The Monmouth Community Garden is off to a fantastic start. As you drive by on Main Street or visit us this summer, be sure to look for it on the front lawn of the Bates Mill Store and Maine Heritage Weavers.
