Description

The Heritage Cotton Matelasse Bedspread was first released in 1950 as part of Bates’ original line of matelassé bedspreads. Initially called “Heirloom”, this old-fashioned bedspread was inspired by 19th century cotton quilts which were often passed down through generations.

In the early 2000s, Bates resurrected this vintage design and suitably renamed it “Heritage”. This new name reflected the design’s history with Bates, as well as honoring the art of textile craftsmanship and its human ties throughout history.

EQUALS MY VINTAGE BATES!

I needed to replace my 50+ year old Bates Heritage. I didn’t even know it was a Bates until I saw the pattern on the website. Bates sent me *free* swatches so I could decide the color; the light-, medium-, heavyweight descriptions were right on. I weighed my old Bates against the weight of the new Bates and they are exactly the same (+/- .5 lbs)!!!!! Obviously, I did a lot of research into this purchase and I cannot be *happier*. Katie at Batea is a rock start! The new spread is so soft and the right weight. I even got shams to match. THANKS, Bates!

LOVE this bedspread

I have this bedspread in WHITE and I love it. I have had it now over 5 years and it's been washed many times and is still beautiful. Love knowing that it's made in the USA and so easy to make the bed.

We are both getting old

I have had a Bates bedspread, of one pattern or another, on my bed since my mom put one there 60 years ago, The present version is older than I care to mention and still looks good --but showing some age. I love that it is a comfortable weight to pull up when the temperature drops in the middle of the night. I tried to replace it with a comforter, but not a all a suitable substitute for my old faithful. I am replacing it with one exactly like it. So happy you are still are making it! Thank you.

Wonderful Bedspreads

We have purchased several of your bedspreads; we have one on each bed in our house - 4 total. We have bought 2 for family members as well. We absolutely love these spreads; the craftsmanship and the patterns are beautiful. We grew up using bedspreads, and then in the 70's the comforters somewhat gained popularity and replaced the spreads. However, over the years I have missed the spreads, and now have gone back to using them. Thank you for a beautiful spread, and a nostalgic memory.
